Hey Bryce, this is a hidden page I made just for you. Specifically for the question about explaining creative decisions behind a piece of work.
I wanted to show you some work that isn't found elsewhere in my portfolio for this:
This is a short I made and sent to the producer of the faith-based podcasts I now edit. This was my first email to him and how I ended up working with him.
I downloaded a long-form video from Youtube to make this, and it contains creative decisions made by me, rather than outlined by the client like the rest of the related podcast shorts I've linked to.
I picked this moment because it has the hook of Sam (the host) revealing a pattern in the book of Genesis, which most christians (target audience) will want to know. He then reveals the meaning of the pattern throughout the rest of the short.
I also made use of visual references to the pattern and scriptures he was referencing.
Here is a short I made from my church's sermons before I was actually serving on the production team (I'm now on the side of live capture rather than social posts). This is the copy of the sermon I was sent, which is why there's occasional lower third graphics from the long-form popping up.
I made use of my pastor's slightly chaotic energy that day, and within a few seconds make the viewer ask, "what is going on here?" I then rely on comedic effect of the "crazy pastor energy" for virality, and am hoping that the viewer stays to see if sense is ever made or a congruent message ever presented.
